Shifting Your Vibe

onefootup-tracynolinbeerman-energy.jpg

Have you ever watched the energy shift as soon as someone walks into a room?  In my teaching days it became a daily practice to check my energy before walking in the door. It was a practice I had to cultivate.  If I happened to forget and bring my frenzied rush hour commute into the classroom, we were all doomed!

Yes.

I am that powerful.

And so are you.

One year I had the good fortune of working with a child who taught me a clear lesson about energy.  About vibration.

This child would literally climb the door frame if I wasn’t watching. Once I turned around to find him standing on the window ledge of our 3rd story classroom!  His “I need help controlling my body” energy affected us all.  I was affected by his amped up energy that would in turn amp up the energy of the whole classroom.  It was a trying time to say the least.

Despite the difficulty of the year, I learned about energy. About vibration.  I learned that I could help this child and his classmates by changing MY energy, by changing MY vibe.  I was better able to help him with his energy after I took care of my own.  It took practice (an ongoing practice) but it really served me, the children and ultimately my own family.

I'm still working on this...every day!

Shine Brightly,

Tracy

BE Her Now

onefootup-tracynolinbeerman-behernow.jpg

There is nothing quite like living a vision driven life.  Creating a vision and BEcoming the woman you are envisioning.  Bearing witness to the metamorphosis within yourself.

It starts with a vision.  3 years from today.  Something that lights you up.  Has the YES! factor.  An absolute YES!  I would love this life.

And, then, there is the contrast.  The space.  The gap.  Between the life you would love to live and the life you are living today.

It is natural.  The feeling of this gap.  The fear.  The uncertainty.  The unknown.  The “how the hell am I going to get from here to there” feeling.

That woman.  The woman you are envisioning 3 years from today.  She is already within you.  You are BEcoming her.

It’s not an arrival.  A place to get to.  It’s a BEcoming.  YOUR BEcoming.

And, in order to BEcome her, you need to BE HER NOW.

Let’s say that in your vision.  3 years from today.  You are a loving, caring, patient mom.  This is what you desire.  You want this more than anything.  BE HER NOW in your current circumstances.  Not waiting for things to change first.

If, in your vision 3 years from today, you are working in an amazing work environment where you are respected, fulfilled and challenged.  Then, you are BEING HER NOW in the workplace you are in today.

How about that radiant health and well-being in your 3 year vision?  You feel well-rested, vibrant and energetic NOW.

  • How would you hold yourself?
  • What kinds of conversations would you have?
  • How would it feel to be you?

BE HER NOW.  And you will find.  That when you are that loving, caring, patient mom or in a work environment where you are respected, fulfilled and challenged or experiencing radiant health and well-being, you already know what it feels like.  Because you had been rehearsing.  You created future memory.  Cells of recognition.

You had been BEING HER NOW.

Shine Brightly,

Tracy

Ruby Slippers

onefootup-tracynolinbeerman-rubyslippers.jpg

For most of my adult life I searched for inner peace outside of myself. I looked for it in relationships, in education, in jobs, in books, in workshops, in exercise, in food, in alcohol, in this, in that, in the other thing.  Did I mention baked goods…???

I searched and searched for the magic bullet, the ruby slipper that would take me home to my essence, my joy, the happy life I so desired.

Although I often felt like I was on the verge of greatness, my paradigms (those pesky buggers) always managed to keep me stuck in my story, in my circumstances, in my regrets from the past and my fears about the future.

There was a shadow or two residing deep inside of me that held me back. That kept me from experiencing the peace, joy and happiness I sought and now know I deserve.  There is an odd comfort in staying in the darkness.  We know it, it is familiar, we can relate to others because of it.  And, honestly, it may be an epic story.

My first born, my greatest teacher, taught me a lesson about staying in my story. That staying in my story kept my loved ones in the story as well.  He taught me that I really did have the Ruby Slippers I so desired.  All I needed to do was put them on.  Trust in the magic and I’d be on my way back home.

I am not perfect.  I am human. I am perfectly imperfect.  I sometimes lose track of my Ruby Slippers.  Think that I’ve lost them.  But now I know that they are always there for me.  They always fit.

You have a pair too! Try them on.  They may feel a bit awkward at first, but I promise you will find your own way of wearing them.

Fun. Flow. Freedom.

Shine Brightly,

Tracy

Creating Time

onefootup-tracynolinbeerman-creatingtime.jpg

Sometimes I feel as if I am in constant motion.  My body.  My mouth.  My mind.

Moving.

Moving.

Moving.

Waking my children (sometimes 5 times), breakfast, morning chores, moving everyone out the door for school, going to work, returning to school for pick up, activities, homework, dinner, bathing and bedtime.  And that doesn't include the unexpected.  At the end of the day, if I don’t take the time for self-care, I collapse in bed only to do the same thing again the next day.

I have found that the most important time in my day is the ME time I give myself.  Through a lot of trial and error I have found 3 key ways to create more time in the day.

Try this:

  1. Rise and Shine - Are you constantly searching for more hours in the day?  Good news!  You can find instant hours.  Any number you’d like.  In the wee hours before your family wakes.  Getting up before your family may sound like an impossible feat.  But, I promise, you can do this too.  And, once you experience the beauty of an early morning by yourself, you will wonder why it took you so long to begin.  Luxuriate in a morning ritual created just for you.
  2. Use Your Calendar - Schedule your big rocks, the most important activities, first.  You can then fill in the open spaces with other activities.  Self-care is a big rock.  It is more important than anything else on your schedule.  You cannot give from an empty vessel...  *Take 10 minutes at the end of the day to review your calendar and schedule anything that needs to be done so it doesn’t sit in your mind and keep you awake at night.
  3. Go to bed - As much as you would like to stay up and watch mindless tv some nights, make a commitment to yourself.  Get to bed in time to give yourself 7-8 hours of sleep.  Sleep is one of the best ways to fill your cup and a good night sleep will be incredibly helpful in getting up before the rest of the household does in the morning.  *Create a new evening ritual.  Before turning out the lights for the night, take the time to unwind, reflect on your day, read and/or write in a journal.

I bet you never knew you could Create Time!  What will you do with yours?  Please share with a comment below.

Fun. Flow. Freedom.

Little Eyes Ears and Hearts

onefootup-tracynolinbeerman-littleeyesearsandhearts.jpg

Have you ever watched your children play or listened to their conversations?  Chances are you noticed a lot of yourself in those precious moments.  Sometimes your heart swells with pride and other times, you are not so pleased with what you are unintentionally sharing with them (mommy guilt - I'm right there with you).

You have an opportunity here, a gift. A gift that will last a lifetime. You can choose to model your best self for your children. You can choose to model the hero’s journey over the victim’s journey, the high road over the low road. You can choose to live an authentic, empowered, harmonious life.  You have choice.  Always.

Your children are learning how to navigate through life by watching you. They are carefully tuned into you.  Their teacher.  For direction. It is up to you to model what you would most like them to see.

It takes a constant shifting.  All day.  Every day.  Shifting into being the best version of yourself.  Knowing that every moment is a brand new baby moment.  Another chance to make a different choice.  It's simple really - this shifting.  It's just not easy.

It won’t be perfect.  Sometimes it will be frustrating as hell.  You may not see it until they are in their thirties but by reaching deep within yourself you are giving your children an immeasurable gift and the beginnings of a new legacy.

Little eyes, ears and hearts are always watching.  Let them see what you really want them to see.

Try this next time you feel a reaction coming on:

  • Notice what you're noticing.  Awareness is the first step in changing a pattern.
  • Pause and take a breath (or two or five).  Pause to regroup and breathe to calm yourself.
  • Respond the way you would like your children to experience you.

Fun. Flow. Freedom.

Shine Brightly,

Tracy

Fall or Fail

onefootup-tracynolinbeerman-fallorfail1.jpg

Have you ever watched a baby learn to walk?  I mean really watch the determination and will it takes to learn to get up on two feet and walk?

The getting up.  The falling down.  The getting up.  The falling down.  Not many babies get up and walk the first time they try.

We all had that determination at one time.  Somehow we have forgotten that it takes practice to get better at anything.  That the more we try the better chance we have of getting up on two feet.

Failure is actually a perception.  We can choose to see failure as simply information, an outcome or a result of an action we took.  We can choose to see ourselves falling instead of failing.  When we fall, we dust ourselves off and get back up.  We learn from the experience and use what we learned to do it differently next time.

Share a time you turned a fail into a fall and what you learned from the experience with a comment below.

Fun. Flow. Freedom.

Tracy

Breaking Patterns

onefootup-tracynolinbeerman-harpaoperahouse (2).jpg

It’s here!  A brand new baby year.  A new beginning.

The gyms are packed.  Resolutions are in place.  Change is in the air.

Promises. Promises. Promises.  To make positive changes for ourselves and our families.

And, very soon, the momentum fades.  Our minds drift back to our old ways.  Our old patterns of being.

Changing habits is serious business.  It takes much more than a resolution to break through the patterns that have run deep grooves in our minds.

The good news is that it is absolutely possible to break those pesky patterns.  One of the tools I use is called a trigger.  A trigger is basically a reminder to change a thought or perform an action.

Try one of these or create your own:

  • Door frame triggers can be set up to remind you to take a pause before entering a bedroom, your home, your office or for making any other transition.  In an effort to cultivate more patience with my daughter I have created a door frame trigger for myself.  Before I walk through the door frame of my daughter’s room I silently say to myself “I Am kind, caring and patient”.  This sets the tone for what I may find on the other side of the door.  Re-framing the old reactive pattern of “omg, I can’t see the floor” or “it’s been 30 minutes and she’s still not ready for school” to I AM kind, caring and patient. I AM says that this is happening now.  Not I want to or I plan to or I should.  I AM means that I am presently kind, caring and patient.
  • An audio trigger is an easy way to create change.  I have an audio notification on my phone that reminds me 3 times a day to breathe.  To stop what I am doing and take 3 deep, belly breaths.  I’ve been doing yoga for over 25 years, teach breath work each week and still find that I forget to breathe.
  • A visual trigger is a lovely way to create a new habit.  I have a talisman that I made at a workshop several years ago made of crystals, a heart bead and a bead that says love on it strung on fishing wire.  It hangs on my bathroom mirror and reminds me to look myself in the eyes and say “I love you”.  It is a constant reminder to be kind to myself by changing my self-talk.

What kind of trigger will you incorporate into your life?  Please share with a comment.

Fun. Flow. Freedom.

Tracy

On BEing

onefootup-tracynolinbeerman-on-being.jpg

Each day I shower.

Each day I imagine.

Each day I shower as the woman I imagine myself BEcoming.

I put her on.

I act as if I AM that woman.

The woman I am BEcoming.

I see the steam.

I smell the shampoo.

I feel the warm water run down my back like she does.

I think.

I plan.

I shower as if I am the future me.

I create future memory.

Cells of recognition.

Of how incredibly amazing it feels to be the woman I am 3 years from today.

Try this:

  • Imagine yourself 3 years from today.  Loving your life.
  • Put it on with your 5 senses.  What do you see, feel, hear, smell, taste?
  • Ask yourself "What step would my future self tell me to take today?"
  • Take that step.

Fun. Flow. Freedom.

Shine Brightly,

Tracy

Changing Your Mood with Gratitude

onefootup-tracynolinbeerman-gratitude1.jpg

The other night my 8 year old daughter was having a difficult time.  It had been a full week and we recently had to have a few difficult conversations with our children about death.

My daughter, who has a vivid imagination, did NOT want to sleep in her bed.  She was not having any part of it.  By 10PM I realized that she was serious!

So, I got her settled into my bed and took out my gratitude journal for me and my bedside notebook for her.  Her eyes lit up at the sight of the notebook as she is an artist in the making and draws any chance she can get.  I told her that instead of our nightly “grateful prayer”, as we call it, we were going to write in our gratitude journals to help us change our thoughts.

I was delighted with the experience for both of us and for the learning that took place that night.  She now has her own gratitude journal.  A simple solution with a powerful outcome.

Try this:

  • Notice how you are feeling

  • Trace the feeling back to a thought

  • Bring to mind something that you are grateful for and feel it fully

Wash. Rinse. Repeat as needed.

Fun. Flow. Freedom.

Shine Brightly,

Tracy

Your Inner Wonder Woman

onefootup-tracynolinbeerman-wonderwoman.jpg

Deep inside each woman lays an inner wonder woman.

  • She may be active daily.
  • She may be lying dormant.
  • She may come out only on special occasions.

In some, it may be decades.  In some, she may never be seen.

Regardless, she is always there.

  • She is strong.
  • She is patient.
  • She is bold.
  • She is smart.
  • She is kind.
  • She is courageous.
  • She knows what to do.

She is dependable as the rising sun.  Solid as a rock.

She waits in the wings.  Sending inner messages of love and power.  Waiting for an invitation to come forth.  It is up to you and I to set her free.

She is you.  She is me.  She is all of our sisters united as one.

To access your inner wonder woman, try this:

Stand tall with feet hip distance apart

Roll your shoulders back

Place your hands on your hips and say “I’ve got this!”

*Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

Fun. Flow. Freedom.

Shine Brightly,

Tracy

New Year New Vision Board

The days of creating New Year’s Resolutions are over for me.  I spent so many years creating them and then being completely disappointed in my failure to follow through with what I thought I wanted.

Now, I create a yearly Vision Board.

My Vision Board is a daily reminder of my intentions.  A visual reminder of what I truly desire in my life.    It is less about things and more about creation.  What I want to create for myself and my family.

I still include things on my board.  But, now, they are more of a marker rather than filling a hole as they were in the past.  An indication that I have arrived.

They remind me:

  • That I am on the right track.
  • That I am living my life by choice.
  • That I am a powerful force in my own life.

A true Vision Board is not a craft project.  It’s not a cut and paste activity although I’ve seen some delightful Vision Board creations.  Some true works of art.

It’s much, much more.  A Vision Board, created with inner inquiry and intention, is a powerful tool in creating what we truly desire.  It’s a decision to live life by design rather than by the default mode we may have been used to Up Until Now.

Good News!  I am holding a Vision Board Workshop in Raleigh, on January 27, 2018!  Join us for a full day immersion including a mini workshop, coaching, inner inquiry and sharing with 11 other powerful creators in a room full of creative energy.  Sign up now as there are only 12 seats and they will fill up fast.

Here’s to 2018!  The best year of your life!

*I placed red hearts on the images that have come into being.  You should see the rest of the board!  (I'll bring it to the workshop)

Fun. Flow. Freedom.

Shine Brightly,

Tracy

Weaving a Tapestry of Support

A common thread in my work with women is the fierce desire for connection.  A tribe.  A power posse.  Call it what you will.  It is the innate desire we all have to be in communion with others.

For some it is to have just one close friend.  A confidante to share our innermost desires and secrets.

For others it is to have a tribe.  A group of women who gather frequently.

  • For support.
  • For celebration.
  • For comfort.

I have a combination of the two.  What I call a tapestry of support.  A handpicked selection of beautiful beings from all aspects of my life.  Whose lives are intricately woven together with me as the common thread.

I feel incredibly blessed to have this tapestry of support.  I am more supported now than I have ever been in my life.  With the knowing that if I fall (and I will), my sisters will be there by my side to brush me off and remind me of who I truly am.

Fun. Flow. Freedom.

Shine Brightly,

Tracy
